Life Science
Ayurveda, Yoga’s sister science, uses diet and lifestyle for holistic wellness. This 5,000 year old science is the oldest continually practiced health care system in the world and is India’s indigenous medical system. Translated as the Science of Life (Ayur=life, Veda=science), Ayurveda works with each individual to help understand how the internal and external environments affect your health and well being.
The main focus of the practice of Ayurveda in the United States is on disease prevention and the maintenance of good health. This system of medicine supports the mind, body, and spirit through the adjustments of diet (eating seasonally, locally and for your own constitution), daily routine (sleep schedule, meal times, appropriate exercise and relaxation) as well as a self care routine (abyhanga, neti pot, tongue scraping).
These practices facilitate good health and may help alleviate symptoms of pain, poor digestion, weight gain, skin imbalances, sleep difficulties, seasonal allergies, stress and many more. Ayurveda empowers the individual to take control of his/her own lifestyle for optimum health and well being.
